One of the most comforting dishes of southern Thai cuisine is known as gaeng tai pla (แกงไตปลา).

The Thai stew is composed of grilled fish and fish kidney to create a marvelously salty and fiery hot blend. 

Chunks of bamboo shoots, carrots and long beans are also added to make the stew hearty.

It may be an acquired taste, but I absolutely love this dish!
